Video & Motion — Case Study
TOPPING D900
A 3D product film for Topping's D900 hi-fi amplifier — machined aluminium, cooling fins and a glowing VU meter, rendered in Cinema 4D and Redshift.
MACHINED FINS. GLOWING METER.
The D900 is Topping's hi-fi amplifier, built like a piece of precision engineering: a machined aluminium chassis wrapped in cooling fins, an illuminated VU meter behind the front glass, and a single large volume knob. Turn it around and there is a full run of connections — balanced XLR, RCA, optical, coaxial and IIS inputs, plus line out.
The work is a launch-style product visualisation: a sixteen-second 3D product film, supported by six CGI stills — the units fanned and stacked, the rear panel in full, a low angle under the chassis, and an abstract study of driver cones. The amplifier was modelled in Cinema 4D and rendered with Redshift, lit so the metal reads as metal.
Film
The Product Film
Sixteen seconds of the D900 in motion — the units fanning and stacking in slow sweeps, the VU meter lit, the finned sides catching the light.

CGI Still
Fanned
Three units fanned diagonally — the machined top plate and the finned heatsink sides that wrap the chassis.

CGI Still
Rear Panel
The back of the D900 in full: balanced XLR, RCA, optical, coaxial and IIS inputs, line out and the power inlet.

CGI Still
Driver Cones
An abstract beat in the sequence — five speaker-driver cones in an arc above a warped, reflective surface.

CGI Still
Low Angle
From underneath: feet, finned side, the big volume knob and the amber VU meter glowing on the front.

CGI Still
Stacked
Two units stacked on a wooden block — the upper showing its rear panel, the lower its front.

CGI Still
Side by Side
The portrait pairing: one unit turned to its connections, the other to its meter and knob.
